In this section multiple building and energy code requirements will be addressed that fall into the category of “building science” considerations that aim to ensure a wall assembly meets or exceeds minimum code requirements for moisture and air-leakage control requirements. These are handled as “one step” because the decision-making process is very inter-related, requiring careful coordination. In other words, one design decision may affect or alter the best options for another decision. For example, the WRB strategy selected in STEP 3A may affect the fenestration flashing detailing required in STEP 3B.
